2022 Luskin Summit – From Homelessness to Social Housing: Policy in a Time of Plenty

Wednesday, January 19, 2022

Event Description

While elected officials and mayoral candidates are intent on criminalizing homeless encampments in Los Angeles, an unprecedented opportunity, including billions in federal and state dollars, exists to expand housing. Instead of the current strategy, which is public spending on impermanent forms of carceral shelter, such resources can and must be devoted to permanent social housing and tenant protections. This panel shares a policy framework, including the unique Tenant Power Toolkit intervention, to ensure housing security for those most in need.
