Biography

Henry Michael Apodaca, MLIS received undergraduate training in anthropology and has fifteen years of public teaching experience. Henry was an educational specialist turned media archivist minted from UCLA with a Master of Library & Information Science (MLIS) degree. His interests include locating media archival professionalization on the landscape of community-based archives by triangulating human, financial, and technological resources that motivate decision-making processes towards archival best practices. Additionally, he is interested in ontological design(s) and epistemic justice that nuance traditional notions of cognitive authority represented in archival records. Lastly, Henry is completing his sixth year of service as Media Archivist with the Los Angeles Poverty Department’s Skid Row History Museum & Archive and takeson project-based work as an independent contractor. Mr. Apodaca is a father of two boys and an avid vinyl record collector.
