INSURGENT HOUSING RESEARCH

Undertaken at a time of mass homelessness in Los Angeles, our research examines the spatial governance of poverty, notably criminalization, racial banishment, and carceral containment. Exposing the ruse of housing offers, we show how the unhoused are consigned to permanent displaceability, by design. Our research and scholarship take place through collectives constituted of unhoused comrades, movement-organizers, and academics and foreground and support the insurgencies of those excluded from police-property regimes.
